For Immediate Release:

(eWebWire.com) May 28, 2010 — WORLD WIDE WEB, May 28, 2010 (FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) — Pirahna

Pirahna was founded in 2008 by San Antonio native and frontman, Nathan Alvarado (vocals) and Spade, who shares a similar taste in music. With the inclusion of Randy Toman (guitar), Pirahna began to feel that inspiration – that creative energy that was needed in order to achieve success in the music industry. They began to write songs that they loved and built that confidence that began to get noticed. In late 2009 the founding members of Pirahna welcomed a new drummer Jason "Shakes" West to the group which allowed them to step up their live performances and also to be more versatile as the group began playing the cover band scene in SA. Shakes is a veteran drummer, formerly with regional juggernaut Pitbull Daycare, and he has toured Europe with Sebastian Bach (Skid Row).

The lead single, “Charm of Distance” is off of their debut 3 track EP. The title is from quote from a classic film called ‘Inherit The Wind’ in which Spencer Tracy’s character describes distance between people as being a charming thing, realizing that distance brings a necessary balance in a relationship. The theme of this single revolves around the premise that distance between two lovers is not necessarily something to be feared, but to embrace.

When you listen to “Charm of Distance” you hear a dynamic rhythm and beat. It has crazy hooks and great harmonies with a great deliverance. Mix in the outrageous vocals of Nathan Alvarado and you have the perfect fusion of sound. This single is also a prime example of the musician’s talent and creativity. Each member’s talent is spot lighted in these arrangements.

Pirahna is also considering a more expanded version of this EP to a 6 track EP in late 2010.

Pirahna won Tonic’s Battle Of The Bands in March, 2009 in San Antonio, Texas. Nathan Alvarado has won the “Best Male Vocalist” award 3 years in a row at the San Antonio Music Awards. Pirahna has also played second support slots for King’s X, Earhsot and Rik Emmett (Triumph). They are also continuing their shows around the San Antonio area and will begin to expand outward into other regions later this year.

Pirahna is working with A & R Select based out of West Hollywood, California for a record deal, publishing, licensing and/or placement opportunities.
