For Immediate Release:

(eWebWire.com) July 10, 2010 — WORLD WIDE WEB, July 10, 2010 (FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE) — IKAY

Queens, New York – Ricardo Theodore Mitchell was born on August 5th, 1990 in Portland (Jamaica, W.I.). To find a better life, Ricardo and his family moved to St. Elizabeth parish. This is where Ricardo took the name IKAY. He was always into music – even when school was in session, he would skip it and go to the Outta Town Music Studio where the owner eventually saw potential in this youngster. Taking notice of his lyrical stylings, the owner of the studio, Bassie, would help him learn the ropes on how to lay tracks, produce and record. He took him under his wing. Ikay was enlightened with knowledge and skill.

In 2008 Ikay migrated to America where we would continue his musical journey. One year later, Ikay released his first mixtape called “This Is My Life Volume 1”. He was noticed and grew a large fan base. This landed his music on the radio.

Today, Ikay is introducing his debut CD called “Family Ties”. The lead single on this CD “Bars Of Pain” demonstrates the totality of Ikay’s talent. Giving his views on life, Ikay pours his soul out through his lyrics and through the dramatic arrangement of this song. This song will surely move you. He speaks of his journey to where he is today – the poverty and the violence – the political unrest that he experienced in his young life. He does this with such conviction and class. This is a genuine artist.

Ikay is currently working on shows in New York City night clubs and has worked with local charities. He has that hunger that you need to succeed. He is always searching for new projects and new possibilities. He leaves nothing for chance.

Through shear passion for this business, he began studying the dictionary and reading theoretical books in order to build his knowledge of our language and the art of composition. I am happy to say that, even though roads might be hard and the struggle might become exhausting sometimes, Ikay has bravely beaten all the battles he might have crossed – and he marches forward. Bravo to you Ikay for your perseverance.
