His first time in France was cold, overcast, and exciting as he competed for the win against the best international surfers in the world.

For 5 days, in rough waves, frigid water and low surf, Kawai won his successive heats and placed in the 1st round of the SUP World Tour finals. There his competition in France ended, but it was an extraordinary effort for his sophomore pro event.

Kawai continued on to Tahiti to compete in the 3rd leg of the SUP World Tour which begins Saturday, May 20th, 2010.
